Welcome to Scotiacon's Bark Box game, back for it's second year!

Have you noticed any black boxes around the hotel? There are ten in total. If you tap your con badge on any of them it will bark back at you! But that's not all, you can also unlock achievements by completing tasks that involve tapping the Bark Boxes in certain ways. This can be by tapping the Bark Boxes at the right time, in the right order or in certain special ways, some of them even involving other people. Each tap that completes a task will trigger an achievement, you will hear a special sound clip and you will get points in the game.

Want to know what that achievement you just unlocked was? The achievements tab on the website will show you the achievements you have unlocked and how many points you've collected, up to six per achievement. If you want to you can opt into our leader boards to show how you are doing and compete against your friends.

We hope you enjoy our expanded version of the Bark Box game for this year. Last year we trialled it for the first time and people seemed to love it! We hope our new version is even better than before. This year we have lots of spellbinding new achievements, and this magic new website so you can better track your progress.

Where did the game come from? The game is based on ideas originally implemented at NordicFuzzCon and Furvester and called Bloop Box. Back in 2023 some German friends of ours, who developed the game, helped us start bringing it over to the UK and we launched our test version at the con in 2024. Since then our team here at Scotiacon has been working hard on improving our version to make it even more fun, and we aren't done yet. Ideas are already underway for more fun in our third version next year, so keep Barking alongside us!
